WELCOME TO NURSERY 1
Week of 12/3-12/7
Themes: Advent & The Gingerbread Man
Letter of the Week: H
The children have been very hard at work practicing for our Christmas Pageant. They have been doing a wonderful job learning our new song and even some dance moves! We will be talking about Advent this week and how we can prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus and the Christmas season with our families. Our letter of the week is the letter H. We will practice the letter H sounds and learn what words begin with H. The children will practice writing the letter H as well.
This week we are focusing on the story of The Gingerbread Man. Our class will read the story together, and we will read two other stories in the same gingerbread theme as well, The Gingerbread Mouse and the Gingerbread Bear. The children will have the opportunity to create a story sequence in our Art center for the Gingerbread Man story.
Please continue to review the prayers from the prayer sheet with your child at home. In school, we usually say the Guardian Angel Prayer, Blessing Before Meals (Grace) and the Sign of the Cross everyday.
Mats are being sent home to be washed and dried this Friday-please return on Monday 12/10.
Schedule changes for this week:
Report card conferences are being held on Thursday 12/6 and on Friday 12/7. Please return the conference session preference sheet ASAP.
Friday 12/7 is an 11:45 dismissal.
*Just a reminder*
We will be sending home “homework” once a week for the children. This is just some extra practice to help them with pencil/crayon control, name writing, letter, number, color and shape recognition. It should be fun-not stressful. This is just meant to reinforce at home, what we are doing in class. We will not always be sending it home every week.
Recess is a day to day decision. Despite the chillier days, we will try to go outside for recess as often as possible, so long as it stays dry. Please send children to school in SNEAKERS with a velcro closure-no tie shoes please.
Please no SANDALS or CROCS.
All students must have 2 pairs spare clothes.
If your child is coughing or sneezing a lot, has a fever or is sick, please do not send them into school. Furthermore, children must be fever free for at least 24 hours before returning to school, due to the Department of Health regulations.
All absences require an absence note upon your child’s return to school.
